Mobile Content Management Systems – Part 1

Looking for a content management system to handle everything from website content to multi-channel delivery? Here are some of the options available –

  1. Joomla
  2. WordPress
  3. Drupal
  4. Liferay
  5. Pimcore
  6. Magnolia CMS
  7. Open CMS
  8. Alfresco
  9. Ones listed here on SourceForge

However, my requirements are for something more along the lines of a consumer engagement platform, rather than a plain old content management system, especially considering that most of the above packages were designed with traditional web-based content in mind. So I ended up moving to a slightly different market segment.

  1. Contentful
  2. AppBoy
  3. Parse
  4. Notificare
  5. MBlox
  6. QuickBlox
  7. ElementWave
  8. PushBots
  9. Appsfire
  10. Pushover
  11. Urban Airship
  12. Airbop
  13. Pushwoosh
  14. PushIO
  15. Mobtizer
  16. MobDB
  17. Appoxee
  18. PushWizard

I won’t go into detail, but there are plenty of reviews available online on each of these.

All of these are designed specifically with mobile devices in mind, and are therefore topped with heavy-duty marketing functionality & analytics that works really well with mobile app engagement requirements. Most also have free starter plans that enable simple push messaging with quotas, but features such as rich messaging, segmented messaging, etc require signing up for the paid plans.
